Henning Ruwe & Martin Valenske
There are very few good reasons (forest fire, gas delivery, special operation) to miss the involuntarily funny program by the comedy award-winning cabaret artists Henning Ruwe and Martin Valenske: Highly political, extremely mean and at best conciliatory between the lines, their program takes a swipe at all of today's political failures and their failures. Sometimes unintentionally, but always very funny, the two young cabaret artists from Berlin's DISTEL really leave nothing untreated, just like the food industry. This is sorely needed, because it is not only politically that the tree is burning. While heavy weapons are not quite working out in Germany yet, at least the humorous side is being upgraded. Even without a special fund of 100 billion, the arsenal is full of cracking punchlines and for a good bang in the diaphragm.
Ruwe and Valenske shoot from all social positions. And in keeping with the current political climate, it's clear that this is not a cabaret for the faint-hearted. In times of rent madness, they test the last affordable bridges in Berlin, diagnose the health sector with terminal capitalism and, despite new nutritional trends, don't let them take the butter off their bread. In their third joint program, the cabaret artists prove that political satire will probably be needed for quite some time to come with a great deal of bitter wit and sympathetic looseness.
Unintentionally funny is fresh and highly entertaining. Topical jabs at supposed leaders, chronically important topics and bizarre observations of everyday life promise an evening in a class of its own. A must for all fans of genuine political cabaret.
