It rarely or never happens that a newcomer band from Vienna, strictly speaking from Upper Austria, charts at number 1 in the Spotify Viral Charts in Austria (and number 6 in Germany) with their debut single. This is what happened to Naked Cameo in 2018 with their first single "Luddite". This was followed by nominations such as the "Music Moves Europe Talent Awards", "European Boarder Breaker Awards" and many others, as well as their first sold-out shows and appearances at the Reeperbahnfestival, Donauinselfest, FM4 Frequency Festival or Eurosonic and support shows for acts such as Wolf Alice or Welshly Arms. Their debut album "Of Two Minds" was also a remarkable success, a dazzling synthpop concept that embraced electronica and R'n'B and infected fans in droves. They were praised by FM4 as the band that "is currently writing some of the best pop melodies in the country."
A lot of time has passed since then. One pandemic and many changes later, Naked Cameo were barely recognizable on their latest album "Trespassing By", released at the end of 2023. The new songs are characterized by a very rocking, almost grungy, direct band sound with lots of guitar and little synth. From: Synthiepop to: Indie rock, so to speak. Somewhere between Naked Lunch, Monta - and the Beatles. It suits them well!
