Neues aus Samaschaß - Neues vom theatre du pain

In the organizer's words:

After their great success in February, they are back once again. After 40 years of countless shows bursting with laughter, Mateng Pollkläsener, Hans König and Wolfgang Suchner are drawing on their full resources. The new production shows serious madness as a form of artistic martial art. Sense-shredding dialog and rousing music surround the totalitarian thought structures in which our human brains repeatedly get lost. They liberate them from the usual cause-and-effect framework, questioning inventions such as the ego, identity and other normative concepts.

The Bremen and Wuppertal-based theater du pain is the last touring theater trio still working in Germany. In its forty years of existence, it has continued to refine its original style. The use of language and music, the revelation of everyday absurdities are unmistakable. The formation has performed at countless festivals in German-speaking countries and has received prizes (including the Prix Pantheon), but despite its success, it has not shed the subversion that feeds on its conceptual unpredictability.

In the planned production, the trio is once again working with Jean Laurent Sasportes, a choreographer from Wuppertal who joined Pina Bausch's company in 1979.
