From April 4 to 6, 2025, the School for Fruit Tree Care will be holding its last intensive pruning course of the 2024/25 winter season.
When pruning old trees, a distinction is made between maintenance pruning and rejuvenation pruning. In the former, the aim is to preserve viable and balanced crowns in their shape for as long as possible through appropriate pruning with long multi-year maintenance intervals. In rejuvenation pruning, it is often necessary to react to a long maintenance backlog and so-called crown shading.
At the start of the 2025 intensive pruning course in Schöneck in the Vogtland region, you will be given an old tree to prune at your leisure. After you are shown the basics of work safety and tool knowledge on Friday, you will continue directly in the crowns of the old trees on Saturday morning. You will prune the trees in groups and later in pairs under close supervision, receive tips and help with working at height and learn how your actions can significantly prolong the life of the fruit trees.
At the end of the course, you will receive a certificate of participation from us. We will be catered for at lunchtime by Rittergut Schilbach. Everyone can also stay in the estate's cozy hostel and spend the evenings together.
Price information:
Course fee includes a good lunch. Accommodation is not included in the price.
