Untitled (194418) describes the possibility of a life that could have been.

We get to know the protagonist Nelly as a successful artist who accepts the award for her life's work at the age of 90. But does what becomes reality on stage actually happen? It soon becomes clear that we are in the middle of an impossible dream. Nelly's dream is inspired by true stories and characters that she might have encountered in the course of her life. Her life rushes past us in film-like sequences, zooming in very close at one moment and allowing us to jump through the decades of a life in the next. People and places appear and disappear. Little by little, a whole life emerges from individual parts. But it is repeatedly penetrated by the reality that Nelly is trying to escape ...

The fiction of "What might have been..." is more than just a mind game. It manifests the dreams and potentials of a life as something that has actually been in its dreamlike possibility, even if it could never become reality. Nelly's fate is perhaps representative of all those persecuted during the National Socialist era who were forcibly deprived of the visions and possibilities of their lives. "This could have been!" thus becomes a deeply tragic and at the same time hopeful statement.

Elinor Milchan and Sharon Burstein Bichachi are two Israeli artists and authors who have once again written and worked collectively for Untitled (194418).

Sharon Burstein Bichachi is a theater actress and artist. She graduated from the Faculty of Theater at Tel Aviv University and has performed in numerous theater and film productions in her home country and abroad. Elinor Milchan is a multidisciplinary artist and writer. She works in the fields of photography, video art, books and theater and has won several awards for her creations.

Untitled (194418) was translated from the Hebrew by Matthias Naumann. The German version was produced in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut Tel Aviv.
