For several years now, Berlin underground rapper $oho B ani has been causing a stir with interesting collabs with Fruchtmax & Hugo Nameless, Chapo102, Jaynbeats and Kasimir1441, among others. After four more or less self-released albums, various singles and mixtapes, he recently released his major debut "Ein Schritt und ich fall". He gets to the heart of the generally rampant anger and hopelessness fueled by the pandemic, the shift to the right and a lack of prospects in society with a banging sound that is as informed by trap and techno as it is by punk, and not just in the single "Jonglieren", to which he rhymes: "Ich glaub, ich kann nur verlieren". In any case, this year he is much more interested in politics and the manipulations and mutations under the wheel of circumstances than before. And ends his work with a cautiously hopeful cover version of Grönemeyer's hit "Zeit sich was dreht" (greetings go out to Merz and Habeck).
