How well do you know your city in all its facets? And are you ready for a few exciting new spots that you probably haven't even got to know yet? With Open House Essen, you can get into buildings that are otherwise not so easily accessible: at the 2024 festival, for example, the highlight is the former Heilig Geist parish church in Essen-Katernberg, which now has a completely new function and invites you on an exciting little voyage of discovery with carefully preserved artifacts of 1950s architecture. Other locations include the studios in Hövelstraße in Altenessen, which were created in a former carpenter's workshop, as well as various rooms at Zollverein.

In short guided tours, you will learn more about the background to the buildings and what there is to discover here. And sometimes people like you and me even open the door to their house or apartment and for a moment our architecture festival feels as wonderful and warm as visiting friends. An experience with lots of good conversations that you should definitely not miss out on. Especially since an exciting supporting program with lectures and workshops awaits you.
