On August 31, it's harbor walk timeagain and a stop at the depot is a must while strolling through the quarter. We are opening the doors to the OPEN HOUSE and there will be lots of free entertainment throughout the depot:

Great Art - Megalympics in the Mittelhalle
15:00 - 20:00

At the Megalympics, all kinds of sports can be tried out in oversized form at various stations in the Mittelhalle. Visually, the stations adapt to their creative surroundings. Have you ever bowled with giant paint tubes? Great fun for family, friends and neighbors!

Collective hidden object picture - entrance area middle hall

Many individual parts, one huge work of art: a large-format picture will grow in the entrance area at OPEN HOUSE, which will be created by all visitors together. A dice is used to decide which field of the overall surface is next in line. Using brushes and pens, a large whole is gradually created. Abstract shapes, colorful patterns, flowers or dolphins - there are no limits to the imagination and it will be interesting to see how everything comes together in the end.

What actually happens behind the scenes at the depot and who is bustling about in the many rooms of the former streetcar workshop? The various people involved in the building pass on the baton to each other and provide insights into their work and the building.

Tombola - every ticket wins in the depot corner

The Depot Corner in the front entrance area not only houses the showcases of the depot artists, but also becomes a raffle booth at OPEN HOUSE: the creative minds of the building contribute small and large works of art from their collection that are looking for a new home. Painting, drawing, printmaking, photography and objects - everything is represented in the raffle prizes. Every ticket is a hit and the proceeds will be donated to the Kana soup kitchen in Dortmund's Nordstadt district.

Mega Hot - wax paintings in Atelier 18

In Susanne Beringer's studio you can get a taste of the colorful world of encaustic painting.You can experiment with melted and pigmented beeswax on a hot painting plate.Lively and expressive works of art are created on paper.

Mega Mini - printing workshop in the studio 15.1

Anyone interested in the art of printing is cordially invited to create "mega mini" monotypes. In the studio of Bärbel Thier-Jaspert and Michael Jaspert, paper and ink are available for printing experiments.

Even without a fixed program - the artists of the depot invite you into their studios and look forward to a chat with visitors. The doors are open at:

Physical theater - in and around the depot

In cooperation with the Physical Theatre Network, the Theater im Depot provides exciting moments and encounters that exploit the narrative power of body, space, object and movement. A wonderful opportunity to get to know the physical theater form!

Follow the hare - geocaching indoors & outdoors
15:00 - 20:00

A helping rabbit, lots of little puzzles and a mysterious treasure: artist Karoline Hoffmann-Pudelko from Atelier 15.2. has created an exciting GPS treasure hunt in which a three-digit code must be deciphered in order to reach the destination.

And what else?

Chilled beats, cold drinks and a relaxed atmosphere: whether it's our in-house technician Thomas (aka Baba Smurf) at the turntables, the crew from Atelier Amore at the cocktail bar or the theater team at the bar in the foyer - you'll be well looked after in the Mittelhalle. The chip van is also at the start, what more could you want!

And if you fancy a bit of urban art on the way to or from the depot, it's best to take a few works of art with you on the RADIUS tour, which can be found in the public spaces of the district.
