OVERLOOK: Sewing, art & photography | Workshop for children and young people | Etta Gerdes & Dagmar Lippok

March 25 - 28, 2024, 1st week of the Easter holidays

OVERLOOK - sewing, art and photography

As a group we design and photograph a fashion collection.

The material is "preloved", i.e. second-hand fashion and discarded clothes, which are turned into artistic creations. The group develops an overall theme and then designs the outfits individually or in pairs. Sewing is done with the domestic machine and the overlock, but also basting, pinning, gluing and styling.

The basics of sewing are taught, but the focus is on creativity, experimentation and courage. From the sketch to the realization in 3D, finally the outfit is worn and filled with movement during photography.

The collaborative collection is staged in the photo studio and also in street situations, the participants photograph each other and quickly learn the technique of light, the camera and how to monitor the shoot on the iPad.

A look for the photos is developed and a clip for social media is planned. The participants receive the pictures.
