Pablo Tarantino Quartet - Jazz

In his debut album, Pablo Tarantino incorporates the influences of his diverse cultural and musical background to create Charnia. The album is named after the extinct living organism that grew on the ocean floor 570 to 550 million years ago and embodies the beauty of our life on earth.
Since Pablo began his career as a musician as a teenager, first as a student of modern music in Valencia and Barcelona and later as a musician in England, Scotland and Germany, he has been interested in translating the stories of the world around him into music. His interest is not only in rhythm, but also in the stories, melodies, harmonies and textures of sound.
As a percussionist, his instincts and mastery of the instrument also allow him to convey rhythmically rich and complex elements in a natural way, making the fundamental core of the performance, the music itself, seem fresh and effortless.
Even in the more subtle and elaborate layers of sound, the listener is never overwhelmed, and the common thread of the story, the beginning of life, the phases and stages of development, the universal and timeless themes of love, belonging, alienation, evolution, birth, death remain at the heart of the music.
The other musicians accompanying him on this project are names from the young and lively German jazz scene. They contribute with their versatility and elegance to the creation of these 9 pieces of original music, with the exception of the last piece, a tribute to the folklore of his native Argentina, a folk tale that reflects the freedom and mystery of our existence.
Charnia will see the light of day on October 18, 2024 with a release concert in Leipzig, followed by a tour of Germany and European cities.
