PÉNICHE

There are said to be freshwater cottages that only swim in the wake of a nervous surf.
PÉNICHE take up the murky currents of instrumental post-punk to tell stories of urgency, love and friendship without words.
PÉNICHE is the soundtrack of a trio that will always prefer the high seas to marinas.

PÉNICHE is as beautiful as a wave crashing against the cliff or a gate in the 90s.

ASBEST are finally back at Slow Club!

Never before have cold post-punk, passionate noise rock and hypnotic shoegaze been so naturally interwoven.

Connected to the LGBTQIA+ movement (people discriminated against by the patriarchy on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity), ASBEST denounce current constraints on their follow-up album CYNIDE:
Pressure to succeed, self-optimization, self-exploitation.

And the band examines the question of whether a truly happy existence is possible in a pathological reality of life without negating oneself or the circumstances.

In Adorno's words:
Is there a right life in the wrong one?

ASBEST are Robyn Trachsel (voc., git.), Judith Breitinger (voc., bass) and Jonas Häne (drums).

Their second album CYNIDE was released in spring 2023 on A Tree in a Field Records.
