PETER ORLOFF & SCHWARZMEER KOSAKEN CHOR

In the organizer's words:

From Kiev to St. Petersburg - what politics can learn from music!

Peter Orloff and the Black Sea Cossacks - this tried and tested concert looks back on half a century of history. As the youngest singer of all the Cossack choirs at the time, Peter Orloff has been on stage since the very beginning. Now we can once again present some selected dates

Peter Orloff comes from an old Russian noble family. His father, the son of a Tsar General, was a theologian and later led the Black Sea Cossack Choir, founded in the 1930s, in which Peter Orloff proved his voice. Now aged 80, Peter Orloff still visits his large community of fans and presents his timeless musical program.

The concert is a musical journey through the fairytale world of old Russia with romances, stories and ballads of grandiose expressiveness, deep melancholy and exuberant temperament. A must for every fan of Russian choirs!

A shining ray of sunshine in the world of music, Peter Orloff, once the youngest singer of all Cossack choirs, is celebrating the glittering anniversary of his 65 years on stage and his 80th birthday this year! Every year, thousands of music enthusiasts attend his few concerts in Germany with the Black Sea Cossack Choir. From fall 2024, Peter, as his fans affectionately call and address him, will be touring Germany again.

Under the overall musical direction of Peter Orloff, the Black Sea Cossack Choir unites Ukrainian, Belarusian and Russian singers of absolute world class in heartfelt harmony! Breathtaking tenors, abysmal basses and, as a special highlight, an absolute world rarity, a male soprano from the Kiev Opera and "deserving artist of the Ukraine". His participation and the cast of the Black Sea Cossack Choir are also a signal of hope, comparable to Daniel Barenboim's orchestra, consisting of Israelis and Palestinians. Politics can learn a lot from music here!

"We can hardly change politics and are not able to stop wars. However, with our commitment we can help people to think about opinions and ideologies in order to achieve a better world for us and our children," says Peter Orloff.

Thanks to its almost unique instrumentation, the Black Sea Cossack Choir is able to perform a truly extraordinary program with works such as the "Prisoners' Chorus", "Swan Lake", "Leise flehen meine Lieder" or - the parade solo of all great tenors - "Nessun dorma". At the heart of the concert are of course the most beautiful treasures from the rich treasure trove of Russian and Ukrainian music literature such as the famous "Evening Bells", "The Twelve Thieves", "I pray to the power of love", "Stenka Rasin", "The Lonely Little Bell", "Kalinka" and - by popular demand - "The Volga Song".

The choir's melodies sound like love poems from a bygone era, filled with longing and joy, deepest melancholy and passionate lust for life. Their sounds tell of past heroic deeds and glorious days, reawakened in a firework display of emotions that makes hearts vibrate, from Kiev to St. Petersburg, in a musical intoxication of memories and dreams.
