German slapstick operetta musical with songs by Herbert Grönemeyer
Hilarious dialog, an exaggerated plot and songs by Grönemeyer - the musical comedy of errors Horse Eats Hat has a lot to offer. The successful socially critical play A Florentine Hat by Eugène Labiche is given a new relevance in the version by Herbert Grönemeyer (music) and Herbert Fritsch (production). In a rapid succession of silly and absurd scenes, an anarchic piece of musical theater is created that cannot be ascribed to any category and invents its own genre. Songs with catchy tune potential meet orchestral passages, cascades of words meet nostalgic moments. Herbert Grönemeyer has composed new songs with succinct lyrics for it. Herbert Fritsch seduces us into his typical world of absurd wit and slapstick gags. The comic and the frivolous culminate in a surprising finale. After the successful world premiere at Theater Basel, now at the Ruhrtriennale: anarchy, social criticism and fun!
