Slow Club proudly presents: Phantom Winter + UR
Just in time for the start of the melancholy season, Phantom Winter and UR, two bands who couldn't be better, will take to our small stage. No matter what mood the weather will bring us on this evening, it will definitely be a very special one at the Slow Club!
When the instrumental doom band OMEGA MASSIF announced its dissolution, members Andreas Schmittfull and Christof Rath re-formed under the name PHANTOM WINTER. The aim was to create extreme music. They called the style "Winterdoom". Melancholy meets cold and rage. The drumming is brutal and staccato, modeled on machines and monsters.
modeled on machines and monsters. Lots of noise, lots of rage, plenty of doom, post and even black metal borrowings, apocalyptic scenarios set to music, dense atmosphere, subtle guitar melodies, a bit of drone, sometimes compact and sometimes epic. Phantom Winter really lovingly weave these components into the musical sausage and serve the whole thing up at a very high level with garnish
and a lot of dirt. The live performance is always intense and furious, guests like to compare gigs to church services.
Support is provided by the mighty UR from Leipzig:
UR - for aurochs, the extinct wild cattle known for its mighty appearance and indomitable nature - practise setting dark, dragging, atmospheric soundscapes to music, at home in the acoustic spectrum of low frequencies and high amplitudes. Archetypal images of wilderness and forgotten, extinct or endangered animals serve as inspiration for the often slowly swelling soundscapes waiting to erupt. These motifs are expressed using stylistic devices from doom, psychedelic and post. UR have been active since 2012 and have played concerts with Omega Massif, Year Of No Light, Conan, Celeste, Dopethrone, Mouth of the Architect and others.
