Mentally "ill"? King of the Fishermen (1991)

About the movie:
Who still believes in the Grail legend today? Ask Parry. Parry used to be a professor of literature, but after a massacre in which his wife fell victim, he swapped his home and job for his visions. In his dreams, the king of the fishermen, a guardian of the Grail, appears to him in the enormous mummy treasure. Of course, Jack doesn't believe this story either. Jack used to be a radio presenter, but after a massacre that he helped to trigger with his overly cheeky remarks, he swapped his job for the bottle. If anyone can help Parry, it's him. After the movie:
Following the film, philosopher Prof. Dr. Gottfried Vosgerau (Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf) will discuss with the audience what it means to be mentally "ill". What does it even mean to be ill? And what particular difficulties arise for the concept of mental illness? How does it relate to the environment in which one lives?

Watching exciting films and then philosophizing in the cinema? As part of the Philosophy & Film series, philosophers from Heinrich Heine University Düsseldorf give short keynote speeches after selected film screenings, in which they make interesting connections between the film shown and philosophical topics. Afterwards, the audience is invited to discuss with the experts in the movie theater.
