A panel discussion will be held at the Colombischlössle Archaeological Museum to mark the redesigned treasure chamber. Susanne Brather-Walter, Early Historical Archaeology, Hanna Kanz, Empirical Cultural Studies, and Verena Wetzstein, Head of Palliative Care Forum Freiburg, will be taking part. The central question of the event is how death is dealt with "on earth". How are mourning and dying organized today and how were they organized in the early Middle Ages? Were precious burial objects a source of comfort in the past or did they represent the status of a person as a farewell? What forms and rituals provide comfort today? The panel discussion will be moderated by Stefan Orth, editor-in-chief of Herder Korrespondenz Freiburg. In cooperation with the Catholic Academy Freiburg. Admission is from 6.30 pm. The number of participants is limited. Admission is free of charge.
