Nobody can avoid AI these days. We also encounter it in museums: the Mauritshuis in The Hague temporarily swapped Vermeer's Girl with a Pearl Earring for an AI-generated painting in 2023.
During the event, we will explore the consequences, opportunities and challenges of AI for institutions. Can images still be trusted today? Does AI belong in museum collections? What influence does AI have on the creative industry and young artists?
The panel discussion takes place on the occasion of the Kirchner Woodcuts exhibition (from November 9, 2024) and highlights the relevance of the oldest printing technique: book printing is based on woodcuts and made the dissemination of knowledge possible in the first place, which AI draws on today.
