Grüner Star is a Hamburg-based band that musically bridges the gap between the Hamburg School and US-influenced indie rock, while always leaning towards post-punk. With their debut album "Durch die Zukunft Richtung Nacht" and the follow-up from 2021, they show a sonic development that is sometimes catchy and pop-oriented, sometimes edgy and raw. Their sound is reminiscent of the smoother phases of Die Sterne or Tocotronic, but without completely leaving their early, rougher energy behind.

Although their music is sometimes perceived as radio-friendly, it conceals a fine mixture of melancholic depth and rocking directness. Grüner Star manage to preserve the classic indie spirit and combine it with modern elements, which makes them both nostalgic and contemporary. Their style is characterized by intelligent songwriting, sharp lyrics and a touch of melancholy - and thus offers a modern homage to the glory days of Hamburg's music history without, however, remaining stuck in mere retro romanticism.

KLOTZS This conglomerate from the dreary Siegerland region has been traveling together on musical paths since 1996, without ever allowing themselves to be pigeonholed into a genre. Maybe that's why hardly anyone knows them? Maybe it's just as well that they still feel they belong to the underground and consistently steer clear of the mainstream and pandering. Post-punk, noise, pop and avant-garde merge here.

What began as a trio with a classic line-up (guitar, bass and drums) evolved into a duo (baritone guitar, drums) in 2013. With the help of effects and enthusiasm, the sound became even more powerful and riotous than at the beginning. Melancholy and gloom have been the basis of the band's sound since the beginning. Emotional worlds and observations find their way into the lyrical parts of the overall work. In recent years, the band has played many concerts at home and abroad, where they always manage to win over new fans. For Klotzs, live always means throwing everything into one pot and pouring it out loud.
