The music of QUADRO NUEVO radiates the joy of an adventurous life. Every melody tells of it. Every note conveys the deep love for the instrument. Every journey characterizes the extravagant musicianship of the ensemble. In Buenos Aires, tango nights were spent dancing the night away. On the Greek islands, the virtuosos found the magnetic song Erotiko. Then they sailed through the Aeolian Islands on the trail of ancient myths, climbed lava-spewing volcanoes in Iceland and finally became infected with bossa, samba and chorinho in Brazil. Music that makes you happy!

Childhood friends Mulo Francel and Didi Lowka founded the QUADRO NUEVO ensemble in 1996. Since then, the adventurous musicians have traveled to countless places and explored daring playing styles. This has earned them two ECHO awards, a gold record, the German Record Critics' Award and several jazz awards. With the extravagant and witty accordionist Andreas Hinterseher and the pianist Chris Gall, who shines with a lavish wealth of ideas, they live their music in the here and now.

This is reminiscent of four lads happily playing music in the southern town squares and fairs. This is what happened in the early days of QUADRO NUEVO. Later, they spent their nights together in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro, rehearsed for days in the shimmering midday heat, swarmed out in the evenings, plunged headlong into the scene, accompanied dancers, intoxicated themselves with heavy wine and fresh Brazilian music straight from the source.
