Ephraim Kishon was born Ferenc Hoffmann in Budapest 100 years ago. After fleeing and emigrating, he emigrated to Israel in 1949. Despite - or perhaps because of - his history, Kishon is probably one of the most prominent humorists in the world. His books have sold over 40 million copies worldwide, including several bestsellers. For an entire generation, Ephraim Kishon was and remains the most popular humorist in the German language and is considered the most successful satirist of the 20th century.
His son Rafael (Rafi) Kishon keeps the memory of his father alive. The veterinary doctor, who studied in Germany and now lives in Tel Aviv, will be performing a program in German in which he will use stories and film clips to provide a look behind the scenes of the world's greatest Israeli humorist. This brings Ephraim Kishon's life and works back to life, including, of course, the best wife of all. Rafi Kishon does this in his very own way, humorously with depth. Because he also masters this genre perfectly - so it stays in the family.
