Raum | Musik: Konzert II – Alvin Lucier (Sinne | Sinn 2024)

As part of the SINNE | SINN symposium series, works by Alvin Lucier will fill the space on Saturday evening, realized by Hauke Harder. Lucier, an avant-garde composer and sound artist, is known for his work in the field of acoustic and electronic music in the 20th and 21st centuries. In his probably best-known composition I Am Sitting in a Room, he makes the room resonate with the sound of spoken words in their own spatial resonances.

On November 8 and 9, 2024, the symposium series SINNE | SINN will continue at the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design Kiel. This year's edition is dedicated to the theme of "Space | Music". Space, an often unconscious but ever-present dimension of music, is the place where the body experiences, feels and perceives music. Since the 20th century in particular, this dimension has become increasingly important and space itself has become an artistic material in its own right. A variety of lectures and concerts will focus on precisely this exploration. Organized by the Muthesius Academy of Fine Arts and Design Kiel and in cooperation with chiffren. Forum für zeitgenössische Musik e. V., the Musicology Institute of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the Musikhochschule Lübeck, the symposium will be an interdisciplinary forum for music lovers, academics and interested parties.
