This is how Countess Irma (Sandra Hüller) feels in SISI & ICH by Frauke Finsterwalder. Empress Sisi (Susanne Wolff) has reached the last half of her life. Irma finds her surrounded by women in a kind of aristocratic commune in Greece, a whole universe away from the etiquette of the Austrian court. Sisi lives in absolute freedom, in which neither her children nor her husband Emperor Franz Joseph play a role. The only important thing is that there is no boredom and that the empress herself determines the rules of the game.

Irma falls head over heels in love with the captivatingly charismatic Sisi and her modern ideas. Together they travel wherever the whim takes them. And everything could go on like this forever if Sisi wasn't empress.
