During this performance, festival guests can look forward to a nostalgic journey into the world of science fiction cine film. Accompanied by live music, short films will be shown whose - from today's point of view - simple style in no way hindered the imagination and fantasy of their creators. The event is framed by a view of the moon and the stars of our entire planetarium. The "Journey to the Moon" embarks on a cinematic retro journey into the flourishing cosmos of old cine films from the 60s and 70s. Adventures on distant planets, encounters with new forms of intelligence, machines that bend the laws of the universe to our will - all this outlines a horizon of longing that can seemingly expand as infinitely as the cosmos. The science fiction short films shown come from the still young "Archive for Family and Amateur Film of the Ruhr Area" and the "Home Movies - Archivio Nazionale del Film di Famiglia" archive in Bologna, one of the most important archives for the collection of this type of film worldwide. Simple technology contrasts with ingenuity and the courage to take stylistic risks.
The very analog cinematic "spaceships" are accompanied by a live soundtrack inspired by the space infatuation of earlier free jazz and experimental electronic musicians. The result is a wild, entertaining journey backwards into the heyday of science fiction and the infinite expanses of the imagination.
