At the end of the year, the city presents its most beautiful side for romantics. Nestled in the picturesque setting between the town hall and St. Jacob's, the Reiterlesmarkt is one of the most charming Christmas markets in Germany.

Where? The Reiterlesmarkt in Rothenburg ob der Tauber traditionally takes place between the market square, Grüner Markt and church square as well as in the atrium of the town hall. In addition, the entire old town is adorned in bright lights during the Advent season!

What: The Alt-Rothenburger Reiterlesmarkt is THE Christmas market in Rothenburg ob der Tauber and is one of the most popular Advent markets in Germany. The market with its 54 stalls is open daily from the Friday before the 1st Advent until December 23. Wind bands from the region around Rothenburg play daily on the stage at the Green Market.

Quick fact: It's worth taking a closer look at the town hall during Advent. Every evening, a self-designed Advent window is opened on the second floor. The windows were created by school classes and youth groups from the region.

Not to be missed: The Reiterlesmarkt in Rothenburg ob der Tauber traditionally opens on the Friday before the 1st Advent on the market square. First, the little rider on horseback arrives on the market square and greets those waiting. Then the large Christmas tree in the center is lit up after the mayor of Rothenburg has given his greetings.
