Richie Beirach - solo piano at Horns Erben - a concert rarity!

The Brooklyn-born jazz pianist and composer is known for his lyrical and always innovative playing style. Richie Beirach studied classical piano and jazz at the Manhattan School of Music. In the 1970s, he played with the most famous jazz greats such as Stan Getz and Chet Baker.

His musical inspirations combine the music of composers such as Bach, Wagner and Schönberg with the rich harmonies of jazz. In doing so, Beirach always finds an intense emotional expression.

As a teacher and mentor, he has influenced numerous young musicians, including during his time as professor of jazz piano at the HMT-Leipzig. Richie Beirach is regarded as a key figure in modern jazz piano.
