On the last Monday of every month, the Museum of Communication will be presenting a selected film on the occasion of the current exhibition STREIT! An Approach together with the Arthouse Cinemas. Always guaranteed to be controversial.

How do you change the world? Together with five extraordinary people, Rise Up seeks answers to the devastating ecological, economic and authoritarian developments of our time. Can the huge global crises of the present be overcome at all? It is said that all social progress had to be fought for by courageous people, but how did they succeed? Five stories about specific social upheavals provide answers. They show how each individual can take concrete action against the great injustices of our time. Be it the feminist struggle in South America, the fight for justice in the Federal Republic of Germany or the economic emancipation of African-American US citizens. These examples give one thing above all: hope! Hope that political commitment is not a battle against windmills, but that global crises and social injustice can be confronted and won!

Driven by questions, doubts and visions, the film wanders through wild worlds of images, through the promises of happiness of modernity, freezes in the face of overpowering enemies, experiences resistance, failure and new beginnings. The film and its audience struggle for answers in equal measure, tracing the point at which people begin to act.
