"rosebud" - Portrait-Konzert und Album-Preview von Matthias Krüger (instrumentale und elektronische Musik/Tanz)

In the organizer's words:

Following the release of his first portrait CD "ain't nuthin' but fairy dust", which was nominated for the German Record Critics' Award, on the WERGO label in fall 2021, the second monographic album by composer Matthias Krüger will be released in 2025.

In five works spanning 14 years, he explores the choreographic dimension of sound production in solo and duo formations: What comes first, sound or gesture? The thread of development extends from purely acoustic solo pieces to the work that gives the album its title, "rosebud", in which the musician is replaced by a dancer, who in turn becomes a musician by means of sensors and the choreography becomes a score.
Four of the five pieces on the forthcoming album will be performed live at the Alte Feuerwache.

1. renk (2015). For lightly prepared concert grand piano.

2. fuckin' A! (2014). For alto saxophone.

3. nun schauervoll einmalig blickt es mich an (2015/rev. 2019). For viola and accordion. World premiere of the revised and complete version.

4. rosebud (2022/24). For dancers, sensors and live electronics. World premiere of the revised version.

The original version of "rosebud" was composed in 2022 at IRCAM (Paris) with the support of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
