Safe Abortion Day

In the organizer's words:

2024 is an important year for the legalization of abortion in Germany. A commission has examined the deletion of Section 218 from the Criminal Code. At the same time, the rise of right-wing parties around the world is jeopardizing reproductive rights. We demand the legalization of abortion in Germany before the end of this legislative period! Unwanted pregnant women need good medical care and social support instead of the threat of punishment. We demand a new regulation of abortion - legal, simple and fair!

We take space to give weight to these demands and strengthen the sexual self-determination of pregnant women. At Hansa48, we offer creative, sad, combative, musical inputs and acts from 4pm to midnight.

Melina Rebensburg will read her text "Picasso" on the right to sexual self-determination.

At 5 p.m. we will be showing "Wie wir wollen", a collective, cinematic portrait in which 50 individuals who have terminated an unwanted pregnancy in Germany have their say. Personal, thoughtful, peppered with jokes and moments of outrage, these stories offer an encouraging counter-narrative to the social taboo surrounding abortions (documentary by KINOKAS, approx. 90 minutes).

Afterwards, experts from the fields of counselling, medicine and law, moderated by Chantal Schierbecker (Diakonie Altholstein/Women's Department), will discuss the legalization of abortions, the need for comprehensive care, reimbursement of costs by health insurance companies, the obligation or possibility of counselling, etc.

At 8 pm, the band "Biet" (Luca (guitar), Matilda (bass), Brian (drums, etc.) (And we'll sing a song, or two, or three, yeah, yeah, join us, we play punk rock, because that's what we're really into, our own songs? of course, for what? Yes, for pogo!) in the hall and then finally: DJing and dancing.

Mini workshops (painting with Madita, embroidery with Lara, lino printing with the piAs (you are welcome to bring bags or clothes) will take place at the same time.

Madita Rahn will be showing expressive paintings with large-format vulvas in the wooden room.
