Claudius Seidl doesn't just write about politics in the feature section - but when he writes about politics, he writes essays and polemics that politics hasn't reckoned with. Because programs, slogans and opinions are one thing. But he is concerned with the other: with images and staging, with rhetoric, history and the intellectual foundations of a politics that far too rarely really knows what it is saying and doing. Seidl writes about drugs and their legalization, about the Germans' fear of nuclear war, about gendering, hostility towards elites, anti-Semitism in the post-colonial art world. He does this free of ideology, but it can happen that the texts are too conservative for conservatives, too liberal for liberals and too left-wing for the left.
