In his new book (Piper), he uses his own biography to show how the former "hereditary enemies" became allies. He tells of French presidents and German chancellors, of great minds and human weaknesses, and makes a strong case for Franco-German friendship as the central pillar of a strong Europe. With Pascale Hugues, Germany correspondent for Le Point, he talks about current Franco-German relations and dares to take an optimistic look into the future.
