It took five years for Norwegian pop artist Sandra Kolstad to release her sixth album. Since her debut album in 2011, the 39-year-old has quickly become a protagonist of Scandinavian electropop with concerts from Kampnagel (2012) to the Roskilde Festival. She also published her award-winning debut novel in 2021 and has since hosted an open mic format at the Oslo House of Literature. On her new album SOFT HARD, she now places the piano at the center and combines two worlds with classical and electronic music, "a fusion of head and body". The album opens with the style-defining single UNLEARNING, on which Kolstad first rises from the pop ashes with a vocoder effect as a Laurie Anderson phoenix, only to then unleash a veritable percussion storm with synthesizers and trap beats from an artistic piano song.
