SATELLITE JOCKEY + TRANSPORTER

In the organizer's words:

Slow Club Freiburg presents: SATELLITE JOCKEY + TRANSPORTER

FRENCH INDIE AVANT BAROQUE POP FROM LYON
and Art Noise Punk from Karlsruhe

Brest, 2011:
Rémi Richarme records his first record by randomly stacking tracks.
The intricate pop compositions are reminiscent of his heroes Kevin Ayers, Pink Floyd or David Bowie, wrapped in a cloud of shoegaze.
His classmates at the school for sound engineers help him and Satellite Jockey soon develops into a collective adventure.
The band discovers concerts, their love for touring and the joy of creative life.
Which becomes more and more intense from record to record and concert to concert.

Lyon, 2017:
After several albums, keyboardist and singer Pauline joins the band. Le Caignec (aka KCIDY) and with Lyon's favorite drummer (aka Florian Adrien), the band becomes an original sextet.
A sprawling pop orchestra in which violin and trumpet unite with rock.
This colorful line-up can be heard on the trilogy "Modern Life", in which the band explores the 60s, the baroque pop of the Zombies, the psychedelic rock of the Beatles.
Three elegant and referential records that will take the band to the support program of Damon Albarn's project "The Good, The Bad & The Queen".

February 2021:
Satellite Jockey releases the album "Le Week-End". New stylistic developments, but coherent, and for the first time in French.
The band becomes a quintet, puts the acoustic instruments aside and begins to focus on working with electric guitars and synthesizers.
The band's name has never been more fitting and Rémi pushes his songwriting beyond the 60s to more modern and synthesized pop.
The colors of Californian soft rock mix with the hope of a nostalgic and futuristic 80s pop in a surreal and poetic French.
"Le Week-End" is a dazzling new chapter opened in Satellite Jockey's discography, positioning them at the forefront of today's most exciting pop orchestras

March 2024:
"Satellite Jockey ... plays music!" is the versatile quintet's new work.
Like a return to the roots, it is Rémi Richarme who composes and arranges this album alone.
The other musicians are only called upon for the vocals and the instruments he does not master (drums, violin, flute).
This joyful and eclectic album is a game, a scavenger hunt for the listener who
who will find the flavors of the previous phases of the group since 2011, mixed and refined.
A game for Rémi, who finds here the total freedom of solo recordings.
Satellite Jockey is having fun with the music, and this joy is contagious!

PRESS on the new album:

"Satellite Jockey's skill finds its consummation in the exploration of melody.
Or how to keep faith in faith in this territory, which has been more or less abandoned lately in favor of rhythm, palaver and imagery."
(Section 26)

"one of the boldest French pop bands" [...] " awakens in us an almost childlike sharpness that reassures us as much as it warms us ".
(La vague parallèle)

"Satellite Jockey find a fascinating balance between playfulness and artistic depth, mastering their back and forth.
comes and goes" ★★★★ (Magic)
