Production is flourishing in the enamel factory of entrepreneur Oskar Schindler in Krakow, which is why new workers are constantly being hired. Unbeknownst to his boss, his accountant Itzhak Stern tries to fill as many of them as possible with Jews who are forbidden to carry out their previous jobs. However, when Schindler witnesses the evacuation of the Krakow ghettos in 1943 in order to deport the surviving Jews to the Krakow-Plaszów labor camp, he becomes aware of the cruelty of the system for the first time and decides to save as many Jews as possible from this fate.
