Seebeck am Markt - Sängerwettstreit 2024 -
Northern Germany's big rock 'n' roll morning pint in Bremerhaven town hall
The "Seebeck am Markt" singing competition will take place for the 25th time on October 3, 2024 in Bremerhaven's Stadthalle. The event owes its name to a former venue which, as one of the most popular meeting places for young people in the 1950s and 1960s, went from being a dance hall to the epitome of freedom and new beginnings for the youth of the time.
Many years after the closure of the popular location, 2,000 guests took part in the first talent contest of its kind in 1998, back then still at Columbus Bahnhof, thus celebrating the birth of the "Seebeck am Markt" event. And to this day, it has lost none of its old flair.
At its core, it still functions in the same way as the first time: people of all ages, often dressed in the style of the 1950s and 1960s, dance exuberantly to the music of the rock 'n' roll formation "Larry & the Handjive".
Anyone who has the courage to perform in front of a large audience can take part in the singing competition. The requirement is to perform two songs from the 1950s and 1960s. The visitors and a panel of experts will decide on the same day whether they are a hit or a miss. Despite all the seriousness and desire to win, having fun will of course be the top priority at all times.
Admission begins at 10 a.m. on the day of the event; the starting places have already been allocated.
