The German-Afghan singer and composer Simin Tander is one of the most exciting musicians in jazz today. Singing in English and Pashto/Afghaani, her delicate as well as powerfully warm timbre develops a pull, a quiet intensity that touches deeply. With her unique way of improvising, far removed from traditional scat singing, Simin creates a world of sound full of mysticism and passionate freedom. Simin Tander is congenially complemented by Jens Düppe, "one of the most innovative representatives of improvised music in Germany" (Jazzzeitung). At this concert, Düppe plays drums, piano and electronic effects at the same time and ensures the impressive flow of the music. The duo surprises the audience with ever new sound combinations.
