Sleeping Woods

In the organizer's words:

Driven by their love of Britpop, the two brothers Bene (lead guitar) and Leo Holtermann (vocals, rhythm guitar) decided to form a band at the tender ages of 15 and 17. After a retrospectively fateful meeting at a party, Bene brought the future drummer Lukas (Vogt) along to a rehearsal. It quickly became clear that the chemistry was right and only a bass player was missing to make the aspiring musicians' happiness perfect. It was all the more practical that Lukas knew a man without a band on bass with whom he had already started the odd jam session. And so Johnny joined them, and after a few weeks the brothers became a real band for the first time.

It quickly became clear to everyone that this was more than just a hobby. Youth centers became clubs, school band events became festivals and rehearsal room demos turned into a first EP called "Without Form, Without Limit" in 2020. Due to the positive response, the single "Mind The Gap" followed in 2021, as well as further concerts in NRW. The band's sonic development led to a personnel expansion: Colin, a fan from the very beginning and a good friend, is on board behind the synth. In October 2023, the second EP "Shibboleth" was released with the lead single "Daylight Odyssey", which sonically hints at the band's shoegaze influences. From a lyrical perspective, "Daylight Odyssey" was inspired by the band's exploration of recurring summer night nostalgia, the never quite tangible concept of time and the transience that comes with it.
