In the Soviet Republic of Latvia in 1979, young rock music fan Renars Rubenis is sent to a psychiatric institution in Riga for political reasons, where he and his fellow inmates take up the illegal production of counterfeit US jeans, flooding the black market while the KGB tries to track down the people behind the business. Based on true events, this multi-award-winning Latvian serial humorously tells of the fight against a totalitarian system that had already lost the Cold War, at least in pop culture terms.
