The Japanese monster movie Godzilla Minus One is set in post-war Japan. The country's economy is in ruins and then the legendary giant lizard appears to cause further destruction. The enormous monster was baptized by the terrible power of the atomic bomb dropped by the Americans. Godzilla Minus One is the first Godzilla project from the history-steeped Toho Company since 2016's Shin Godzilla and was created to mark the 70th anniversary of the monster that first saw the light of day in cinemas in 1954. It is the 37th film in the Godzilla franchise and the 33rd produced by Toho, while the others were made in the USA.
