Portrait of the city of Bochum at the beginning of the 1960s as an example of an industrial city in the Ruhr region. The change in the mining monostructure is thematized. Alongside other companies, footage of Graetz, Ratio, Opel, a paper factory and Bogestra is shown. The film ends with a pan across the Bochum Christmas market.
