Superstrut - The New Power Soul

In the organizer's words:

This is the motto of the funk band SuperStrut, whose members have come together from all over NRW. "We're not interested in chart positions, but in danceable live music - it's all about the groove."

This is exactly why SuperStrut was founded in 2014 by experienced musicians. Today there is a 9-piece band on stage, which is often reinforced by guest musicians.

The band plays over 20 gigs a year in classic club venues, at renowned festivals such as the Düsseldorf Jazzrally and as a support act for international artists.

"No hits, no classics"

Many titles in the repertoire are covered, but without delivering a rehash of the usual hits. "We are anything but a Top 40 band," says the band. "The grooves of the late seventies, acid jazz of the nineties and songs in the style of Kool & The Gang, Incognito, Jamiroquai, The Motet or the Brand New Heavies provide the modern, crisp funk sound that sets us apart from the typical cover band drone. "Lush brass sections, polyphonic vocals, driving percussion - all this paired with the precise interplay of the rhythm section make every concert a varied and lively experience.
