The 2024 Open Monument Day in Hamburg will take place under the nationwide motto "Wahr-Zeichen. Witnesses of history".

This year, over 280 events will bring Hamburg's monument landscape to life in a special way. Whether on guided tours and walks or on your own, alone or with family and friends, on foot or by bike - there are many ways to explore Hamburg's monument landscape on Open Monument Day: there will be on-site visits, guided tours and walks as well as a special family and building culture program. This year, over 160 monuments, many of which are taking part for the first time, will provide exquisite insights behind doors that are otherwise closed. A large number of the monuments on show have been restored or preserved with the support of the Hamburg Monument Preservation Foundation. They are marked with a little tower in the Monument Day program.

The Heritage Day will be officially opened on September 6 at 8.30 p.m. with a cinematic tour of the city with "A Wall is a Screen" in the World Heritage Kontorhausviertel (meeting point: Sprinkenhof, corner of Springeltwiete/Burchardstraße, registration not required).

The Open Monument Day in Hamburg is coordinated by the Hamburg Monument Preservation Foundation and sponsored by the Monument Protection Office of the Ministry of Culture and Media. The event is organized nationwide by the German Foundation for Monument Protection. It is part of the "European Heritage Days" under the patronage of the Council of Europe and takes place throughout Europe in September. The Stiftung Denkmalpflege Hamburg is a partner of the Hamburg Foundation Days 2024, which will take place from September 6 to 14.
