Talk: Monica Bonvicini, Sam Durant und John Miller über Mike Kelley

In the organizer's words:

Mike Kelley (1954-2012) has influenced generations of artists. Three of those who knew him personally and now influence art themselves talk about him: Monica Bonvicini, known for her power-critical sculptures and installations, met Kelley in Los Angeles in the early 1990s. Sam Durant, who addresses historical injustice and cultural privilege in paintings and sculptures, worked for a time as Kelley's assistant. And John Miller, whose art dissects phenomena from fashion to surveillance, played together with Kelley in the band The Poetics from the late 1970s. With essays such as "Educational Complex" (Afterall Books 2015), Miller is also one of the most important theorists of Kelley's work. We are looking forward to an evening of personal memories in which one of the most fascinating and complex figures in recent art history comes to life.

Registration required.

The panel talk will take place under the dome at K21 in English.
