TANDEM: Vom BeGreifen und Schreiten

With the TANDEM exhibition series, the Depot cultural venue creates a stage for artists who are at different points in their careers to work together on a presentation. Young students and creatives at the beginning of their artistic careers meet Depot artists who have already established themselves. The TANDEM teams invite you to take part in their creative and personal exchange.

Due to the renovation work in the gallery, the TANDEM series in the Mittelhalle now presents two mixed doubles who have joined forces for a joint project: Daša Geiger, Christiane Heetmann, Alexander Lackmann and Gine Selle are working with photography, painting, drawing and light in their exhibition "Vom BeGreifen und Schreiten".

In a rapidly changing digital world, the four artists venture a decelerated view and open up facets and perspectives on our everyday grasping and walking: They explore manual activities, document dying skills, tell little stories of action, develop chimeras, but also show impressions and imprints of our actions in everyday life.

About the artists

Daša Marie Geiger(*1989) is an audiovisual artist and photographer living and working in Herne and Valencia. After a Bachelor's degree in Cultural and Media Education (2018), she completed her Master's degree in Media Art and Design at the Bauhaus University Weimar in 2024. In 2021, she spent a semester abroad in the field of Visual Arts and Multimedia at the Universitat Politècnica de València, where her focus on portrait photography deepened. She has been working as a freelance artist since 2020 and has collaborated with galleries and cultural institutions in various international contexts.

Her work explores the relationships between people and their surroundings, using photography and audiovisual media as tools to make intimacy and distance visible. Her works have been shown in exhibitions in Brazil, Chile, Germany and Spain and invite us to question individual and collective identities in the field of tension between space and perception.

Christiane Heetmann came to Dortmund after studying mathematics and art. From 1996-99 she was a lecturer at the TU Dortmund in the art department. In 1995, she was involved in the founding of Depot e.V., but moved to Schwerte in the meantime due to her place of residence and drove the development of kab34 with exhibitions, a store and various events. After its closure, she returned to the depot. Christiane Heetmann is a member of the BBK Ruhrgebiet and the Produzentengalerie 42 in Dortmund with many years of exhibition activity in Germany and abroad. She uses multiple media and materials and works recurrently with paper and rust, also in light objects or kinetic works. Her work always focuses on people and their forms of expression and the traces they leave behind.

Alexander Lackmann, born in Gelsenkirchen in 1994 and raised in Gladbeck, initially completed an apprenticeship at a subsidiary of Volksbank. From 2017 to 2018, he volunteered with the street workers in Gelsenkirchen before moving to the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen. There he obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Photography in 2023 and is currently studying "Photography Studies and Practice - Master of Arts". His focus is on artistic documentary photography, often with a focus on urban phenomena.

Selected exhibitions include CALL IT A BOOK (2021, KOP.12, Essen), Pixelprojekt Ruhrgebiet - Neuaufnahme (2023 and 2024, Wissenschaftspark Gelsenkirchen) and Folkwang Finale (2023, SANAA, Zollverein, Essen). Upcoming exhibitions include STOPOVER (2025, SANAA, Zollverein, Essen) and Internationale Photoszene (2025, Cologne).

Gine Selle, visual artist and graduate designer, lives and works in the Bavarian Forest (Frauenau) and in Dortmund. Since the 1990s she has been painting, drawing, printing, photographing, collaging, building objects, staging outdoor installations and spatial designs and exhibiting regularly at home and abroad. Her work is characterized by a wide variety of contrasts, her materials are diverse and her techniques are always new. In the last three years, for example, she was selected for the international art festival 'artspace' in Bremerhaven, exhibited at the Kulturverein Linz/Austria and Kunstverein Wörth e.V., as well as at the LWL Klostermuseum Kloster Dalheim and the Glasmuseum Frauenau and was invited to the 'Brücke e.V.' in Kleinmachnow.
