Tango Fenesta - Offbeat-Konzert

Themes such as farewell, grief and despair run through this semi-staged concert like a common thread - and at the end there is hope and transformation. The ensemble from the Gürzenich Orchestra combines the sounds of a string quartet with those of the accordion in various combinations and immerses the voice of mezzo-soprano Ursula Hesse von den Steinen in ever-changing colors. The evening's program encompasses an entire musical cosmos, from baroque opera arias to Billie Eilish, from the brittle sounds of avant-garde composer Salvatore Sciarrino to the electrifying tango of Astor Piazolla.
