TERRAZZO DIY

Get to know the versatile material Jesmonite and cast great workpieces in individual terraao designs. With Katharina Wahle fromSTUDIO WAHOO in Hanover.

Create your own terrazzo piece and take it home with you on the same day. Choose from various silicone molds that I provide for the workshops.

Duration

The workshop lasts approx. 2.5 - 3 hours with a short break in the middle while we wait for the workpieces to harden.

Good to know

Work aprons and gloves will be provided by me. Comfortable clothing that can take a beating is helpful. You do not need any previous knowledge.

Procedure

In this workshop you will make a terrazzo object and become familiar with the versatile material Jesmonite. You will have a large selection of different terrazzo chips and other aggregates, such as sand grains, chopped straw, cork or walnut granules.

You will put together your own individual terrazzo mixture, mix it with the base material and pour it into a mold. You have the choice of different silicone molds.

During the workshop, I will share my basic knowledge of casting and guide you through the color selection process with my expertise.

After 20 minutes, the compound has hardened and you can remove your object from the mold. Finally, you will sand the surface and work out the terrazzo. After you have sealed the object with a food-safe sealant, you can take your workpiece home with you.
