The Art of Character Voices

In the organizer's words:

Our voice is one of our defining features as a person. The way we say particular words or make particular sounds, or even the choice to stay completely silent, can tell others how we’re feeling, where we’re from, how old we are, wheter we're human(!?), and so much more. This workshop will explore how we can play with nuances in our voice to create interesting characters, then go on to show how these characters express themselves in different situations and react to what the world throws at them.

Level

Some of the covered topics and techniques will be intermediate-advanced. But if you’re a beginner and this topic sounds interesting to you, don’t let that stop you! Improvisers of all levels are welcome, and feedback will be tailored to where you’re at.

About the teacher

Alec is a professional voice actor and voice director with experience performing character voices and vocal sounds, and directing voice talent across video games, animation, film, and more. He also utilises improv within video game development across voice acting performances, world building, and narrative design.
