About the workshop:

Sound interventions. Tactile strategies for sound exploration.

The workshop is aimed at music students, professional and non-professional musicians.

In this workshop we will talk about advanced techniques and preparations. I propose to re-explore the instrument and raise questions about our way of playing in order to find our own language when improvising. Looking at the instrument as an object outside its historical context. Obstruct its normal functioning by interfering with its sound and body. Hacking and de-automating our way of listening and making music.

About Paula Sanchez:

At the intersection of experimental music, free improvisation and performance art, Paula Sanchez's work focuses on the composition/decomposition and destruction/reconstruction of a mutable sonic space. With a marked interdisciplinary profile, she first found her voice as a performer, interpreter and composer in the fields of theater and performance, highlighted by her participation in the experimental stage collective Ob-caenum - an important presence in the province of San Juan in Argentina, where she completed her music studies at the National University. She later obtained two Master's degrees - in Improvisation at the Music Academy in Basel and in Contemporary Art Practice/Sound Art at the Bern University of the Arts, Switzerland. Since 2018, Paula has been active in contemporary music and improvisation circles in Europe and has participated in numerous concerts. Her playing is characterized by the use of extended techniques and unconventional ways of playing, she works with materials such as plastic, glass and elements from nature in combination with voice and electronics. The result is the pure presence of an embodied sound that invents its relationships as it makes its way into the void.
