One of the big summer hits of the past year definitely came from Milan: The Kolors have shaken up the dancefloors with "Italodisco" and produced one of the most streamed dance numbers. The track delivers exactly what the title promises: maximum use of synths, a hypnotic bassline, drum computers, a highly catchy melody and vocals mixed into the foreground are reminiscent of the Gelati days, when people went to the beach with Righeira and Giorgio Moroder was the High Priest of Disco. However, this magnificent homage to the summer vacation feeling that immediately comes to mind is by no means the Italians' first hit. The Kolors, consisting of singer and guitarist Antonio Stash Fiordispino, bassist Dario Iaculli and drummer Alex Fiordispino, emerged from the Milan underground club scene in 2010 and had their breakthrough in 2015 when they were chosen as the winners of the 14th season of "Amici", Italy's most important TV talent show. Their debut album "Out" went five times platinum, stayed in the charts for a year and spent twelve weeks at the top of the official Italian album charts record for a band. This was followed by further platinum chart hits - including "Italodisco", which also went five times platinum - and a second impressive album, "You". The roots lie in funk and disco, the euphoric vocals alternate with rap interludes and the provocatively laid-back beats provide a breezy groove. With their infectious sound, the Italians have long been at the forefront of a new wave of Italian pop. Their latest single "Un Ragazzo Una Ragazza" was released in February and promises more to come (and was of course also immediately crowned with platinum), and next March The Kolors will be coming to us on tour
