His home is the underground. That's not the only reason why he fits in so well with the music bar in the basement of the Bilker Bunker: Twit One is undeniably one of Cologne's most important producers of instrumental music. After years spent behind his MPCs, Tim Purnell alias Twit One has finally left his studio - Mr Wun's Dojo - to take to the stages of the world. And so now the one at Lock Two!
The producer and DJ, who has been shaping the German hip-hop scene with his beats and instrumentals for over 15 years and making boom bap "cool" again, has brought in reinforcements: Maxime von Koblinski is a classically trained vibraphonist and Niklas Schneider (Keshavara) on drums.
Twit One has always been a friend of collaborations and experiments; as one half of the projects Testiculo Y Uno, 4trackboy & Echomann and Flatpocket, or in collaboration with artists such as Lord Jah Monte Ogbon, Count Bass D, Eloquent, Henry Wu and many others. The artist as a grab bag: you never know what to expect. And that's a good thing!
"The underground is always having a harder time. But the tragedy also gives it a good profile."
