The term "homeland" is still used by the right-wing scene as a fighting term, above all to deny those people who do not live up to the ideal of a homogeneous, Christian and white society their right to exist: The NPD renames itself "Die Heimat", the Ministry of the Interior becomes the "Heimatministerium", the members of the NSU trio met at the "Thüringer Heimatschutz". "Heimat" is an irritating word that constantly triggers new debates.

But what does "homeland" still mean today? A place, a feeling, an attitude? Or is the longing for an inclusive homeland actually long outdated? What utopias arise when we think of home? "There's no place like home" is a scenic search for new perspectives on what home can be. In personal stories and provocative texts, the actors of the English Theatre Society create a collage of moments that make the nuances and fractures of the term "homeland" tangible.

The term "Heimat" (homeland) is still used by the far-right scene as a battleground concept, primarily to deny the legitimacy of those who do not fit the ideal of a homogenous, Christian, and white society: The far-right German partie "NPD" renames itself "Die Heimat", the Ministry of the Interior becomes the "Heimatministerium" (Homeland Ministry), and the members of the NSU trio first met through the "Thüringer Heimatschutz" (Thuringian Homeland Security). "Heimat" is an emotive word that repeatedly triggers new debates.

But what does "Heimat" mean today? A place, a feeling, an attitude? Or is the longing for an inclusive homeland already outdated? What utopias arise when we think of "homeland"? There's no place like home is a scenic exploration of new perspectives on what it can be. Through personal stories and provocative texts, the performers of the English Theatre Society create a collage of moments that capture the nuances and contradictions of the term "Heimat."
